The
XII Congress of the Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) took place in
March 2025 at
ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), bringing together scholars and students from across the field. The event, recognized as a key academic forum for political science professionals and researchers, featured discussions on
Portuguese society and politics, European studies, comparative politics, governance and local politics, public administration and policies, international relations, and political theory.
Honoring Manuel de Lucena
As part of the congress, a roundtable in honor of Manuel de Lucena was held on March 7 at 3 PM in the Sedas Nunes Auditorium (ICS). Lucena (1938–2015) was a pioneering Portuguese social scientist and political analyst internationally recognized for his work on fascism, corporatism, totalitarianism, and Portuguese democracy. His collaborations with Juan Linz, Emilio Gentile, and Philippe Schmitter positioned him at the forefront of political science research. This tribute marked the 10th anniversary of his passing, celebrating his contributions to social sciences and political thought.
The session featured distinguished scholars, including Professor António Costa Pinto (LusoGlobe)
Student Panels from Universidade Lusófona
A remarkable achievement at this year’s congress was the acceptance of two student-led research panels from the Comparative Politics course at Universidade Lusófona, supervised by Prof. Susana Rogeiro Nina. This milestone highlighted the students' academic excellence and research dedication, as they presented their work alongside leading scholars.
