Susana Nina is one of the authors.
The first set of surveys was carried out simultaneously in six countries in a two-wave panel in each country. The first wave occurred in January 2019, and the second wave occurred in June 2019. The surveys are drawn from Qualtrics online panels, and they follow a three crossed-quota design based on age (three categories), education (three categories) and gender (two categories). The study includes questions on attitudes towards the European Union and national politics, as well as political behaviour. Wave 1 of the panel also includes a conjoint experiment where respondents were asked to choose among different parties based on a number of characteristics which were randomly assigned to parties. Wave 2 was carried out following the European Parliament Elections and includes a repetition of the questions in Wave 1 as well as several questions pertaining to vote recall for the EP elections.

The MAPLE II set of surveys was carried out in five countries during each country’s legislative elections from 2019-2021. The time period of implementation of the panel surveys was the following: Spain (pre and post-legislative elections of April 2019); Greece (pre and post-legislative elections of July 2019); Portugal (pre and post-legislative elections of October 2019); Ireland (pre and post-legislative elections of February 2020) and Germany (pre and post-legislative elections in September 2021). The samples are drawn from online panels, and they follow a three crossed-quota design based on age (three categories), education (three categories) and gender (two categories). The pre and post-election waves in each country include many identical questions on political attitudes and behaviour concerning national and EU institutions. In addition, questions were included about particular issues that were politically salient for the specific election that are unique to each country study.
