On Thursday, March 27, at 6:00 PM, the launch of Politics in Contemporary Portugal: Parties and the Consolidation of Democracy took place at Associação 25 de Abril, a historic venue for discussions on democracy and political transformation in Portugal. The event was organized by the Commission Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the April 25 Revolution, in partnership with publishing house Tinta-da-China.
The session featured the participation of Thomas C. Bruneau, who discussed the book’s key themes. Renowned political scientists Marina Costa Lobo and António Costa Pinto also contributed to the conversation, offering broader perspectives on the book’s significance in understanding contemporary Portuguese politics.
This launch was part of a broader series of initiatives promoted by the Commission to mark the 50th anniversary of the revolution that ended the dictatorship and established a democratic regime in Portugal. The event contributed to ongoing reflections on the evolution of democratic governance in the country.
