April, 2026

The Lusófona Centre on Global Challenges (LusoGlobe) hosted an international seminar on 27 April 2026 at 16:00, featuring Odilon Caldeira Neto, Professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Brazil) and a researcher funded by CNPq.

Titled “The Radical Right in Brazil: Past and Present”, the seminar examined the dynamics of right-wing radicalization in Brazil, addressing both historical and contemporary dimensions, with a focus on the intersections between neofascism, political extremism, and institutional politics.

Odilon Caldeira Neto is a leading scholar in far-right studies and author of Neofascism and the Far Right in Brazil (Cambridge University Press, 2025). His research focuses on the memory of fascism, radical right movements, and contemporary forms of political extremism.

The event was organized by LusoGlobe and was open to students, researchers, and faculty in political science, international relations, and history.
