Lusófona University Promotes Dialogue on the Amazon and Sustainability

On April 24th, Lusófona University hosted the Round Table entitled "Amazonia: Sustainability, Innovation and Society", which brought together experts and students to discuss and propose solutions to contemporary environmental challenges affecting the Amazon region and the world, as well as the importance of global cooperation.
Professor Sabrina Medeiros, in her inaugural speech, highlighted the need for international cooperation in the face of political and environmental challenges in the Amazon, while a delegation representing the Amazon Rainforest, composed of professionals from the areas of technology, mathematics and social sciences, brought an innovative and challenging perspective to traditional approaches.
The event was attended by several students from the Faculty of Applied Social and Economic Sciences (FACSEA) who underlined the relevance of ethnic and national diversity for cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries. Among the topics discussed, the role of the Amazon in the global context was highlighted, including its impact on the policies of the European Union, and the need to strengthen dialogue with the global South, covering Africa and Latin America.
The participants also highlighted their commitment to youth and their active participation in international discussions, presenting scientific initiation projects on the regulation of autonomous weapons and human rights.
The event reflected Lusófona University's commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and strengthening international cooperation, seeking innovative solutions to complex challenges such as this one.
