This aligns with a broader scientific field concerning digital governance and the quality of democracy, which examines how new digital methods can either enhance or hinder efficient and transparent public policy formulation. Bernardo is particularly interested in how public administrations are transitioning from traditional decision-making processes to "smart"; approaches whileavoiding the reproduction of social inequalities in Southern European countries.
He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences related to Political Science, innovative studies, and urban planning. Additionally, he has published articles in both national and international scientific journals and frequently collaborates with the media on political analysis for newspapers, radio, and television.
